Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro

With all the challenges I faced in using the kit lens and extension tubes, I thought it was about time to get a real macro lens. This model from Sigma, is my first target.

When I got hold of the lens, reality struck me as it will not auto focus on the D40. I was wanting more convenience as I've been through the difficulty of using manual focus with extension tubes and my confidence in operating a lens in manual focus is not that big yet.

Nevertheless, I gave it a try but I didn't bring any decent subject and there's no interesting subject within the store, so I ended up with using my dirty K810i as the subject.

Extension Tube experiment

The preceding photos were taken hand held at 1/30 (left) and 1/100 (right).

While contemplating on whether to get this lens or not, I spend time looking at its physical characteristics.

The packaging is nice and comes with a lens hood and lens pouch.
